COREY J. MEHAFFY JOINED THE STAFF OF MOBERLY AREA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (MAEDC) as the President of the organization in February of 2008. As President, Mehaffy is responsible for all economic development efforts including business retention & expansion, business attraction and entrepreneurship. From its inception in 1988 MAEDC has handled the economic development function for the City of Moberly and Randolph County. In 2009, Mehaffy led an effort to establish a three year partnership with Chariton County. In 2011 the organization expanded to add Cooper and Monroe Counties; and in 2013 Howard County joined the partnership with MAEDC functioning as the lead economic development agency for all counties.
Mehaffy is also the co-founder of Grow Mid-Missouri (GMM); an entrepreneurial development program serving 17 counties in northeast Missouri designed to assist entrepreneurs in reaching their goals. The GMM program provides online resources, coaching and mentoring; and an investor network to support entrepreneurs in their efforts to bring products from the idea stage to market. Mehaffy also participated as a contributing author for The Organic Entrepreneur Economy which serves as a guide for local government and civic leaders who are trying to make sense of entrepreneurship and how it can be organically rooted in their communities to accelerate business creation and grow the economy.
In January of 2014, Mehaffy purchased Growth Services Group, a workforce intelligence research and consulting firm. GSG uses proprietary methodoligies and processes to offer clients rigorous data analysis which results in an exhaustive knowledge of all aspects of the subject labor force. The products and services relate closely to the importance of quantifying and connecting workforce assets with traditional economic development practices for retention, expansion, attraction and small business development.
Prior to joining MAEDC Mehaffy served for five years as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Central Christian College of the Bible (CCCB) and one year as the COO of L&J Development, Inc., both of Moberly. Mehaffy came to CCCB after serving as the VP of Operations for Pike Mechanical, Inc. and serving as the Director of Operations and Business Development for Arona Corporation, both of Des Moines Iowa. Mehaffy has held several senior management positions in a variety of industries from finance to retail while owning several businesses.
Mehaffy spent his formative years in Quincy Illinois where he graduated from Quincy Senior High School. Following high school Mehaffy attended CCCB in Moberly before transferring to AIB College of Business and completing his Bachelors Degree from William Woods University. Mehaffy has completed several professional development programs including Expereince in Community Enterprise and Leadership Development, IEDC and University of Northern Iowa Heartland Economic Development Course, Association of Business Administrators of Christian Colleges Certification Program, McConkey-Johnson International Fundamentals of Development and Performance Measurements for Effective Management of Non-Profit Organizations from Harvard University. In the fall of 2010 Mehaffy graduated from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute making him eligible to sit for the exam to gain designation as a Certified Economic Developer.
Mehaffy serves as a Board Member of several civic and charitable organizations including Central Christian College of the Bible, Northeast Missouri Workforce Investment Board, Moberly Regional Medical Center, Moberly Rotary Club, City of Moberly Tourism Advisory Council, Katharos Ministries, Northeast Evangelism, and the Randolph Area YMCA where he was recognized as the 2008 Board Volunteer of the Year. Mehaffy is a member of the Midwest US-China Association (MWCA), American Chamber of Commerce China (AMCHAM)and the National Rural Economic Developer’s Association. Mehaffy and his wife Priscilla have been married for over 25 years and have a son named Jordan.
Tina Bealmer leads the administrative team for Moberly Area Economic Development where she has been a valued member of the group since 2009. She is a graduate of the Heartland Economic Development Course. Prior to her time at MAEDC, Tina spent 20 years with G.E. Financial in team management and leadership roles in addition to her experience in retail banking.
Tina and her husband Jeff live in Huntsville and have 2 sons. She is active in the community serving as the Treasurer for the Huntsville United Methodist Church and a Team Mom and ardent supporter for the Westran Hornet athletic program.
Michael Bugalski joined the team at MAEDC in 2016 as an Economic Development Specialist. His primary responsibilities involve assisting with the daily operations of the organization; including coordination, planning and implementation of economic development programs. He works to promote economic growth in the community by helping existing businesses expand and by attracting new investment to the area. Prior to MAEDC, Michael worked at the Missouri Department of Economic Development. There he was responsible for managing an eight county region in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Following that he completed a Master of Public of Affairs from the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri-Columbia. In 2015, he completed the Heartland Economic Development Course.
