David Gaines Joins the Moberly Area EDC Team

Moberly, MO. – Corey Mehaffy, President of the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation announced today that MAEDC will be adding a new full-time economic development professional to its staff. Mehaffy added, “On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation I am excited to welcome David Gaines to our staff. David is an experienced economic development professional with a history of successful projects and I am confident that he will be a great fit for our organization.” Mr. Gaines will join the staff of MAEDC as the organization’s Vice President on September 1, 2010. Prior to joining the MAEDC team, Mr. Gaines served as the Executive Director for Montgomery City Growth, Inc since December of 2007. Mr. Gaines has held management positions in varying industries including economic development, financial services and broadcast media.

“We are very excited about this opportunity,” said Mr. Gaines. “Moberly and the surrounding areas are a great place to do business. There are numerous benefits to being in business in the Moberly area both nationally and as we have seen recently, internationally as well.”

Mr. Gaines has been very involved in the communities in which he has lived including serving as the Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the Jonesburg-High Hill Fire Protection District, a former member of the school board for the Montgomery County R-II School District, former board member of the St. Louis Jaycees Foundation as well as his current position as the Chairman of the Board for the Northeast Missouri Development Partnership. Mr. Gaines has served as a little league baseball coach and is a retired high school, college and minor league football referee. Mr. Gaines is an avid sportscaster participating in radio play by play for football and basketball as well as a free lance business and sports writer writing for two weekly papers.

Mr. Gaines is married to wife Dara and the couple has 7 children including 6 boys and 1 girl ranging in age from 9 to 22. The Gaines family are members of the Minneola Baptist Church and are active in numerous school and sporting activities. Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation works to promote financial investment in Randolph and Chariton Counties.
