Corey J. Mehaffy joined the staff of Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation as the President of the organization in February of 2008. As President, Mehaffy is responsible for all economic development efforts including business retention & expansion, business attraction and entrepreneurship. From its inception in 1988 MAEDC has handled the economic development function for the City of Moberly and Randolph County. In 2009, Mehaffy led an effort to establish a three year partnership with Chariton County and again in 2011 the organization expanded to add Cooper and Monroe Counties with MAEDC functioning as the lead economic development agency for all Counties.
Prior to joining MAEDC Mehaffy served for five years as the Chief Operating Officer of Central Christian College of the Bible and one year as the COO of L&J Development, Inc both of Moberly. Mehaffy came to CCCB after serving as the VP of Operations for Pike Mechanical, Inc and serving as the Director of Operations and Business Development for Arona Corporation both of Des Moines Iowa. Mehaffy has held several senior management positions in a variety of industries from banking to retail while owning several businesses.
Mehaffy spent his formative years in Quincy Illinois where he graduated from Quincy Senior High School. Following High School Mehaffy attended Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly before transferring to AIB College of Business and completing his Bachelors Degree from William Woods University. Mehaffy has completed several professional development programs including Randolph County Excel, Heartland Economic Development Course, Association of Business Administrators of Christian Colleges Certification Program, and Performance Measurements for Effective Management of Non-Profit Organizations from Harvard University. In the fall of 2010 Mehaffy graduated from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute making him eligible to sit for the exam to gain designation as a Certified Economic Developer.
Mehaffy serves as a Board Member of several civic and charitable organizations including the Moberly Rotary Club, City of Moberly Tourism Advisory Council, Katharos Ministries, Northeast Evangelism, and the Randolph Area YMCA where he was recognized as the 2008 Board Volunteer of the Year. Mehaffy and his wife Priscilla have been married for over 20 years and have a 15 year old son named Jordan who attends the Moberly High School. The Mehaffy’s are very active in the Moberly community and are members of the Timberlake Christian Church in Moberly.
