Longtime civic minded businessman Chuck Brazeale of rural Paris has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation. The Monroe County resident and President of The Paris National Bank will represent Monroe County on the volunteer Board of Directors of the non-profit organization dedicated to improving economic opportunity in the four county area that it serves.
“We are very pleased that Chuck has decided to lend his expertise to this group,” said MAEDC Board of Directors Chairman Jerry Jeffery. “His years of business background are of great value to our overall goal of improving the financial outlook in this area.”
Brazeale has led the Paris National Bank as its president for years. He has also been involved in previous economic development efforts in Paris and Monroe County as well.
“I’m honored to have been asked to serve the citizens of Monroe County in this manner,” said Brazeale. “We have all seen the benefits that Moberly Area Economic Development has brought to the whole area in the past several years. Working together in this way will only continue to help everyone in Northeast Missouri.”
Earlier this year the agency that works to develop new business opportunities in the area by working with local companies wanting to expand and attracting new business investment to the area expanded to include the cities of Paris, Madison, Monroe City and all of Monroe County. It was the second expansion in 2011 that included the addition of Cooper County and the City of Boonville to what has now become a four county region.
“The work on behalf of Monroe County has already begun,” said Corey Mehaffy, President of MAEDC. “We have a lot of data to gather relating to utilities and available commercial and industrial buildings and sites. Soon we will also begin to visit with the major employers in Monroe County as well.”
The economic development group that has a staff of four trained business development professionals also works with individuals as well. “We can guide them to the best resources to help them determine exactly what will be needed to give their business the best chances of being successful,” said Mehaffy.
The non-profit organization is funded through contributions from individuals and corporations that are located in the four county area. They receive the majority of their funding from contracts with the City of Moberly, Randolph, Chariton, Cooper and Monroe Counties.
“Having Chuck and Monroe County as a part of this effort is helping to change the face of rural economic development,” said Mehaffy. “Combining the resources and the assets of our area improves our ability to support the business community for the entire region.”
