AT&T, one of the nation’s largest telecom companies recently presented Moberly Area Economic Development Corp. with the prestigious designation of AT&T FiberPark for the Heights Business Park and the Moberly Area Industrial Park in the progressive community. The designation comes on the heels of the industrial park being named a Certified Site by the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

“We are pleased that one of our partners has recognized the investment our community has placed into the development of its industrial and business parks,” said Corey Mehaffy, President of Moberly Area Economic Development Corp.

“This is also a sign of the commitment and investment that AT&T has placed in the region as well.”

John Sondag, President of AT&T Missouri was present during the presentation of the certification.  “Missouri is very important to our company,” said Sondag.  “Central Missouri’s very important to our company.

Over the past few years AT&T has invested over $2 billion dollars in upgrades to its wireless network in the State of Missouri.  The outlay has increased its wireless capacity in the region by an additional fifty percent.

The commitment has also been to the fiber optic necessary for the business community.  “This has helped us with companies like Mamtek and Vest-Fiber,” said Mehaffy. “Part of the draw for these two international companies was our communications networks in the region.”

The Moberly Area Industrial Park which was one of the locations with the new AT&T designation is the new home to the North American operation of Mamtek US an artificial sweetener manufacturer that has invested $46 million dollars in the construction of a new state of the art facility.

The Heights Business Park platted in 1988 is home to the corporate headquarters of Orscheln Industries a diversified manufacturing and retailing organization.  The park also houses a unit of GE Financial that has call center operations in a modern facility.
