Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation Announces Recognition of 2023 Economic Development Week The international event will highlight local efforts to increase the quality of life in every community over the course of May 8 to May 12, 2023 MOBERLY, MISSOURI – Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation (MAEDC) marks the week of May 8 to May 12, 2023, as the next Economic Development Week. During this week, communities across North America will celebrate and recognize the contributions made by professional economic developers to create more economically vibrant and livable communities. Created in 2016 by International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the largest international professional trade association for economic developers, Economic Development Week aims to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.

“As local and regional economies evolve, the role of economic developers and development organizations are crucial in energizing, preparing, and promoting local economic growth,” says IEDC President & CEO Nathan Ohle. “The 2023 Economic Development Week will recognize, distinguish, and show appreciation for the innovation and leadership of our community leaders building an equitable, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future. Entertainment Industry Grant Program Guidelines Reissued
After receiving feedback about the previously announced Entertainment Industry Grant program, we have reissued guidance for the program. Revised final guidelines are now available here. Complete information is also available on DED's ARPA’s tourism webpage. The revised guidelines seek to clear up eligibility questions about entertainment venue operators and entities that rent or lease their venue but do not own their venue. Entities that rent or lease their space must do so for at least 10 months of the year and rent a single venue. Please note that the revised guidelines supersede any and all previous guidance issued for the program. Application Launch Date Updated DED's ARPA Entertainment Industry Grant Program will now open for applications on May 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. CST via the MO DED ARPA Federal Initiatives Submission Manager. Applicants should sign up for a Submittable account to apply. Pre-Application Training An additional training will also be held on Thursday, May 4, at 1 p.m. to review the revised guidelines and address specific questions. KWIXLand's monthly Business Spotlight featured JB Waggoner, Managing Partner of Inovatia Laboratories, LLC and Inovatia AgriTesting Services, LLC. Mr. Waggoner has been a resident of Fayette since 1987, when he came to attend Central Methodist University. Since then, he has founded two companies and raised a family in the area. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Waggoner is also a commercial instrument-rated pilot, and enjoys flying for both business and pleasure. He is an active volunteer in economic development and civic groups, including the Rotary Club and the Fayette Optimist Club.
