Grow Mid Missouri Launches NEXT
Moberly, MO – Grow Mid Missouri, an initiative of Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation, announces the formation of NEXT. NEXT is a collection of community leaders and civic-minded individuals in the Moberly Area. Their goal is to inspire the next generation of community leaders and promote civic involvement. They are planning both social and educational events for their members.
NEXT plans to conduct monthly events in Moberly alternating between social events they call “Connect” and educational events called “Juice.” The group welcomes individuals of all professions and age groups. The organization is not currently charging dues and encourages active participation from anyone with interest in the community.
Cassie Carpenter, an Attorney at Gump & Faiella, has been part of the leadership group to get NEXT started. “Several of us, through our professions, saw a need in Moberly for this type of organization. Our goal is to facilitate networking opportunities, provide professional development and promote civic involvement. This will be a huge asset to our community and I am excited to continue working on NEXT.”
NEXT’s first event will be a Connect event at Shady Tuesday’s on May 18th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. There will be a short introduction to NEXT and time for networking. NEXT has a Facebook page, “Next – GMM,” and a Twitter account, “@next_gmm.” NEXT asks members of the community to like and follow in order to stay informed on upcoming events.
“Members of the community came forward and said this was something they would like to see happen.” Said, Corey Mehaffy President of the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation. “Gro
w Mid MO and MAEDC are serving in more of a support role, but the benefits to the business community will be plentiful. We think this a valuable service for our community and I am looking forward to seeing the things this group comes up with.”
Chuck McKeown of Century 21 McKeown & Associates was pleased to hear of the new group. “Our community needs fresh faces willing to enter leadership positions, and I recognize the need to retain talent. As a business owner, I understand the struggles Moberly has with retaining talented younger people. I hope NEXT will inspire them to see the opportunities in Moberly and help them feel more connected to the area.”
NEXT is currently seeking volunteers and sponsors for upcoming events. If you or anyone you know is interested please reach out to the MAEDC office at, email@example.com. There are several event sponsorship opportunities available to individuals and businesses.
