GrowMidMo Named a Finalist for $15,000 Strong Communities Award
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) announced Bank of Cairo and Moberly has been selected as one of seven competing for $15,000 to use to further promote economic development opportunities in their community through GrowMidMo.
Bank of Cairo and Moberly, a FHLB Des Moines member financial institution, has partnered with Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation (MAEDC) to apply for the Strong Communities Award for the GrowMidMo program. This award honors the projects, people, and programs that promote local small business growth and retention. The winners of the award will be determined through a public online vote Sept. 10-14, 2018.
Bank of Cairo and Moberly has been a long time supporter of MAEDC and the GrowMidMo program, an entrepreneurship development program serving small businesses in rural Missouri. Since 2012, GrowMidMo has helped to start new businesses in the area, create jobs, connect entrepreneurs to capital, and provide training and networking opportunities.
“We are excited to announce Bank of Cairo and Moberly as a finalist for our Strong Communities Award,” said Mike Wilson, president and CEO, FHLB Des Moines. “Bank of Cairo and Moberly’s partnership with MAEDC and GrowMidMo has demonstrated a strong commitment to their community, and we wish them the best of luck as we enter the public voting period.”
“The GrowMidMo program is a tremendous benefit to our community,” commented Rob Cater, President of Bank of Cairo and Moberly. “We’re honored to support the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation’s efforts to help entrepreneurs and small businesses, as these folks play a crucial role in growing our local economy.”
“We’re encouraging the public to vote each day online during the second week of September,” added Ryan Eidson, Program Administrator for GrowMidMo. “If awarded, these funds will help us serve area entrepreneurs and small business owners even better.”
