Moberly, MO – The Board of Directors of Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation welcomed a new member to the distinguished group of Directors at their February meeting. Brian Crane, Administrator for the City of Moberly assumed his new role at the most recent meeting of the three-county economic development organization.
“Brian brings a strong background in municipal government to our team,” said Corey Mehaffy, President of Moberly Area Economic Development. “His experience in managing local government is a welcomed addition to our Board of Directors.”
The Board of Directors is comprised of some of the top leaders in manufacturing, education, finance, local government and business that oversees a long standing effort to improve economic opportunity. “Our Board is a valuable asset that is called upon frequently,” said Mehaffy.
Moberly Area Economic Development over the past several years has
expanded its area of service from what was once just Moberly to what is now a three-county region. ”It is the regional approach that allows us to pool different resources together for the benefit of the greater area,” said David Gaines, Vice President for Moberly Area Economic Development.
The region is comprised of Howard, Randolph and Monroe Counties. “With three counties and the cities of Fayette, Glasgow, Paris, Moberly and Monroe City working together we can offer much more to businesses in the region,” said Gaines.
Work for the non-profit agency consist of assisting individuals in developing and starting a new business, aides in the expansion of existing business and the attraction of new business investment to the three county region. In addition that group addresses long-term business issues such as the development of the next generation of workforce as well addressing regulatory issues that may affect business in the region.
Over the past several months the team of professional economic developers at Moberly Area EDC has been involved in several projects in each of the three counties leading to the announcement of over 250 new job opportunities in the region.
