President Corey Mehaffy Departing MAEDC

Moberly, MO – Effective December 31, 2018, Corey Mehaffy will leave his position as President of Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation (MAEDC.) Mehaffy has been in this role for nearly 11 years, beginning in February 2008. Mehaffy has accepted a position with the Northeast Missouri Economic Development Council in Hannibal, Missouri.

The Board of Directors had the highest praise and gratitude for Mehaffy’s tenure with the organization. Dean Miller, Chairman of the MAEDC Board of Directors, said “Corey built this organization from a small, rural economic development office to a national leader. His innovative approach to regional economic development has put thousands of people to work and brought millions in investment to Moberly and our partner counties. As a Board, we cannot thank him enough for his loyal service and dedication. He will be greatly missed, and we wish him and his family good fortune.”

Mehaffy will start with Northeast Missouri Economic Development Council after January 1. The MAEDC Board of Directors has named Michael Bugalski to be Interim President effective January 1, 2019. The Board of Directors stated their confidence that the organization’s services will continue uninterrupted following Mehaffy’s departure.

“Thank you to the City of Moberly; Randolph, Howard and Monroe Counties; the University of Missouri and all partners who have put faith in MAEDC. Their trust, and the generosity of our Industrial Club members, have made our many successes possible,” Said Corey Mehaffy. “It was difficult to leave this organization, but I am excited for the challenges ahead. Thank you to the Board of Directors, staff and my family for your support over my 11 years in this position.”

“The parting is the end of a long, successful tenure,” said Vice President Michael Bugalski. “Too few times in life are we fortunate to come across someone like Corey. I sincerely thank him for his time and commitment to our organization. In my view, Corey has no equal as an economic developer. Most of all, I thank him for his friendship and devotion to our team.”
